Joshua Mwaura was born in 1941 at Subukia in Nakuru District of Kenya. His parents were squatters in a white man’s farm. He was educated at Majengo Primary/ Intermediate school, where he was the only K.A.P.E candidate to qualify for Secondary Education 1959. He joined Njiri’s High School from where he graduated in 1963. He worked for two years with Barclays Bank before he joined Government Service, where he is now working as a Chief accountant i the Ministry of labor. He authored He Man and the Price of Sin. Mr. Mwaura married with three children.

The underlying theme of this novel is the psychological effects parental mistreatment and torture he had while growing and fast developing young man in contemporary East Africa. Mwangi, the central character, is a shy and retiring young man whose life has been severally scared by his father’s brutalities at an early age is unsure of himself, he cannot face people squarely, his love life is By a  clever juxtaposition or flashbacks and truncated episodes, the author brings the story to an explosive climax when Mwangi finally decides to live for “the present” and renounces once and for all his former semi paralytic existence. This is a novel of vividly drawn characters, penetrating dialogue and humorous incidents. A worthy additional to your bookshelf
