The Devils of Menengai

When Kosgey and Munyua decide to venture into the Menengai Crater, they are unprepared for what they encounter. They stumble on a gang of dangerous robbers who have turned the lives of the people of Nakuru into living hell. They are taken captive and the leader, the Black Devil asks Munyua’s mother to pay a ransom of two million shillings through an sms.

Soon Munyua and Kosgey realize that the crater mountain is not full of ghosts as the village tales had it, but a bunch of criminals engaged in armed robbery and drug trafficking and operating in cahoots with some police officers in the town.

Munyua and Kosgey are cornered and they must think of a plan to escape or perish under the hands of Black Devil. They master all the courage they can get and turn the tables against Black Devil and his henchmen. They arrest them and hand them over to the County Commissioner. This is a very captivating story of adventure and fantasy that shows that crime doesn’t pay. It is suitable for pupils in standard 7 and 8.
