When Shiku and Shiru are told by their mother that they will be taken to live in the separate huts on top of the hill, they are beside themselves with worry and sadness. They realize that self centredness does not pay. They learn the virtues of love, kindness, and respect and their lives change for the best. They become champions in the village by getting their parents and other well wishers to help the needy in society. Their initaitive to help the less fortunate is even recognised by the Govenor of their county. This story teaches important values to the young and is suitable for standard 4 and 5 pupils.
